5 Items you Should Have in your Summer Beach Bag

Summer is in full swing. If a trip to the beach is on your “to do” list this summer then you’ll want to know how to pack a “proper” beach bag.  The contents of the bag will of course vary depending on who you are taking to the beach with you. If you’re taking children you may have a different list entirely. On this list I’ve included what I think are my absolute MUST HAVES when visiting the beach.  Take the list as a jumping off point and then customize it as you need to meet the needs of your individual family.

1. Sombrilla

I love the beach but I do not like being in the direct sun. A friend of mine told me about a Sombrilla. It’s basically a stripped down “tent” that you can set up on the beach. It will give you the shade that you need but is small and easy to carry around with you. Plus it comes in all kinds of cute prints and colors.

2. Ear Buds

Stuck next to noisy neighbors at the beach? Are they messing with your peace and tranquility.  Carry a set of earbuds with you to help keep you keep your sanity when you’re on a loud or busy beach.

3. Baby Wipes

Even if you do not have a baby, I consider baby wipes a beach (and pool) must have item. You can use them to wipe sand off your hands before you eat, clean up excess sunscreen, and a million other things.

4. Sunscreen

This one may seem obvious, but do not forget the sunscreen. If you’re going to be playing in the water make sure you buy a waterproof sunscreen and reapply it often.

5. Waterproof Pouch

Want to take photos of yourself frolicking in the waves? Don’t risk your dropping your phone and ruining it. Instead pack it into a waterproof pouch. Most pouches are clear so you can still see your phone and even take photos.  As an extra added bonus it will also help keep the sand off your phone too.

6. Turkish Towel

These turkish towels are just as absorbent as regular towels but don’t hold onto as much sand. Just pick them up and shake them off and you’re good to go.   They can also double as a swim cover up in a pinch.
