1. Shoe Cleaner
Shoe cleaner is an important shoe care product because it can remove any dirt, stains, and even polish buildup from shoes. They are available in both sprays and liquids that can be applied with a cloth. When shoe polish builds up on shoes it can prevent air from circulating in and out of the shoe. Using shoe cleaner can restore the leather's natural oils, making the leather more pliable. A buyer should never us a cleaner that has acid in it or is a household detergent. After using the cleaner, it should be wiped off with a damp cloth and the shoe be allowed to dry.
2. Shoe Brush
A shoe brush is used to polish leather shoes and create shine by removing any excess shoe polish. The best brushes are made from horsehair because the bristles are soft enough not to scratch someone's shoes but are still stiff enough to bring up a good shine. Some brushes also have handles that are ergonomically designed, so they do not stress the user's hand and wrist joints. Although a horsehair brush works with leather or sports shoes, it is too rough for suede shoes.
3. Shoe Polish
There are two different kinds of shoe polish: shoe cream or paste, and wax polish. A cream or paste polish is used for keeping fine leather soft and pliable. Although a cream polish soaks into the leather, it still lets the leather breathe. Most of these pastes include mineral oil that can help maintain the shoe color, but they usually do not cover scuff as well as wax shoe polishes do. Wax polish does shine leather better than paste can, but wax polishes tend to dry out the leather. Black shoe polish is the most common type as many formal shoes are black, but polishes also comes in other colors such as brown and white.
4. Waterproof Product
Often shoes that are made of synthetic materials have already been waterproofed, but leather shoes frequently need to be waterproofed. Waterproofing leather shoes before the rains set in will help the shoes resist water damage and so last longer. In order to choose a waterproofing product, the buyer will first have to determine what kind of leather the shoe is made of. Thicker leathers can handle stronger waterproofing compounds. Creams and oils tend to be the most effective kinds of waterproofing products. The product can be rubbed into the shoe with a soft cloth and be left to stand for around an hour before the excess is wiped off. Another option is a spray compound. Since a spray does not get worked into the material, it is not as effective as the cream and oil varieties. At the same time though, the spray will not build up as much or change the color of the shoes. If the wearer is worried that the waterproofing product will change the color of their shoes, they should first test the product on a small section of their shoes to check how the compound may affect the leather.
5. Odor Powder or Spray
An odor power or spray can be used with any type of shoe and is very useful if the wearer is worried about foot odor. If the wearer is having a problem with foot odor, he or she can put it into the shoe before wearing it. The spray or powder can be applied to the inside sole of the shoe where most of the odor seeps into the shoe. There are also products designed to spray on one's feet to get rid of the odor. The wearer should decide which method works best for him or her.
